{"id":2200,"date":"2019-10-13T17:50:30","date_gmt":"2019-10-13T17:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sozocial.com\/press\/?p=2200"},"modified":"2019-11-09T17:52:06","modified_gmt":"2019-11-09T17:52:06","slug":"carl-hedin-knowing-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sozocial.com\/press\/carl-hedin-knowing-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Carl Hedin &#8211; Knowing God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I have moved along the Journey of my life I have&nbsp; come to a place where a main focus for me spiritually is to Know God. To go beyond having him part of my life and move into understanding his being.<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s a big order, how do we do that? What is&nbsp; Knowing Him, what does it do for us?<\/p>\n<p>I believe that from the place of knowing Him flows everything else. If I know Him and He knows me, that&#8217;s where the connection is and where everything we can experience comes from.<\/p>\n<p>The natural result of knowing him is to do life with more of His fullness, it can bring us<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wisdom<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Peace<\/li>\n<li>Generosity<\/li>\n<li>Supernatural understanding<\/li>\n<li>Miracles<\/li>\n<li>Dreams<\/li>\n<li>Prophecy<\/li>\n<li>Healing<\/li>\n<li>It can show up as a deeper love for others and for his creation<\/li>\n<li>Shalom &#8211;&nbsp; which, in Hebrew, means &#8220;wholeness, completeness, soundness, health, safety and prosperity&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From: <a href=\"https:\/\/jewsforjesus.org\/publications\/issues\/issues-v01-n10\/the-shalom-of-god-issues-shalom\/\">https:\/\/jewsforjesus.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Definition of &#8220;Know&#8221;: in the Oxford dictionary to know means: notice, hear of, learn; reveal, be or become known, realize, GREEK: to know fully, be aware of, to feel.<\/p>\n<p>In his book &#8220;God in the Shadows&#8221; Gary Frey writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>God is lurking in the midst of life, speaking to us in every possible situation and circumstance, and he desires that we KNOW Him above all things. We seem to think that He is primarily concerned in what we DO, when He is the most concerned in our KNOWING him. &#8211; Gary Frey<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>John 17:3<\/p>\n<p><i>3&nbsp;Now this is eternal life: that they know you,&nbsp;the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.<\/i> &nbsp; <i>From &lt;<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+17%3A3&amp;version=NIV\">https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>John 14:7-9<\/p>\n<p><i>7&nbsp;If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you&nbsp;know Him, and have&nbsp;seen Him.\u201d<\/i> <i>8&nbsp;Philip *said to Him, \u201cLord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.\u201d&nbsp;9&nbsp;Jesus *said to him,&nbsp;\u201cHave I been so long with you, and&nbsp;yet&nbsp;you have not come to know Me, Philip?&nbsp;He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how&nbsp;can&nbsp;you say, \u2018Show us the Father\u2019?&nbsp;10&nbsp;Do you not believe that&nbsp;I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me?&nbsp;The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.&nbsp;11&nbsp;Believe Me that&nbsp;I am in the Father and the Father is in Me;<\/i> &nbsp; <i>From &lt;<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=john+14&amp;version=NASB\"><i>https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=john+14&amp;version=NASB<\/i><\/a><i>&gt; <\/i><\/p>\n<p>I think the cornerstone to knowing Him is to&nbsp; want to\u2026 to have the desire. Once we turn our attention and our desire to&nbsp; that&nbsp; goal I believe that He reciprocates and turns his attention to us in that arena.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that focus on Him, and time spent wanting intimacy with the creator, is key to moving towards knowing God.&nbsp; If you want some practical steps to intimacy with God see my video on &#8220;Spiritual Excercies&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Some keys to moving&nbsp; forward are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spending uninterrupted time focusing on Him<\/li>\n<li>Reading his Word, the Bible<\/li>\n<li>Worship, this opens our heart to Him and sets the atmosphere for communicating.<\/li>\n<li>Be open and quiet before Him, sit in silence, let Him know&nbsp; you are open and available to hear from Him.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Try to learn how to &#8220;hear&#8221; his&nbsp; voice. It&nbsp; helped me to realize that the spirit&nbsp; doesn&#8217;t operate exactly like&nbsp; the rest&nbsp; of us (our&nbsp; body&#8217;s or souls), it&#8217;s part of who you are, but operates differently. To&nbsp; &#8220;hear&#8221;&nbsp; God&nbsp; we need to put Spirit first and&nbsp; then our logical thinking is secondary. I know that sounds wrong or scary. I don&#8217;t mean to ignore our brains, they are good and God given, but there needs to be a part&nbsp; of you that&nbsp; allows you to move in a different way than you have done before in life or you won&#8217;t make the progress you are looking for.&nbsp; When&nbsp; I first started my journey with the Holy Spirit&nbsp; I decided I would go for it and then pray that God would keep me on the path and safe, and then I would match up what I was learning with scripture and run it by people I trusted. Once I opened up, thing started to happen and saw forward momentum.<\/p>\n<p>My challenge is for all of us to foster the deep desire to know Him. I think sometimes we feel like the subject is so deep and so wide that we could never attain is so it&#8217;s intimidating. I believe God looks at the heart and invites us to just step in and start.&nbsp; Foster the desire&nbsp; in your heart to&nbsp; know him ad take some practical steps to get there.<\/p>\n<p>Spend time with him, focus , and keep that desire growing to Know&nbsp; Him!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As I have moved along the Journey of my life I have\u00a0 come to a place where a main focus for me spiritually is to Know God.
